10 do's and don'ts of dabbing

removing dabs from wax paper

  1. Do NOT grab the oil with your fingers. Dabs are very sticky and hard to get off of fingertips. Also when smoking hash or oil in a pipe with weed do not smash the bowl down with your finger - bad results.
  2. DO offer others dabs, it may be an expensive habit but the peace you pass around will more than make up for material wealth (haha).
  3. Do NOT lose your cool after taking a dab. It can be pretty intense and if you start to feel overwhelmed don't worry you're going to be alright after about 20 mins of coughing and bugging out.
  4. DO use a torch and quality dabbing rig if you have it available. Although there are many ways to dab having the right tools for the job can take your oil a long way.
  5. Do NOT drop your friends five hundred dollar glass dab rig and break it. You should know by now how to handle glass and if you're dabbing with expensive stuff you better pay attention.
  6. DO have other tools around like a pick or double ended pick for scraping up and dabbing the oil. You can get them pretty cheap online (look at the bottom of page for amazon products.) If nothing else a small technical screw driver works.
  7. Do NOT drop the pick, or let the oil fall off of the tool you're using. If you're like most people your floor is covered in hairs, dead skin and other gross things.
  8. DO keep your oil in a container. Keeping oil on wax paper ( which is a bad idea ) makes it hard to get off if it squishes and sometimes when scraping it off you end up with wax paper in your hit. If you're going to use paper you want to use parchment paper NOT wax paper, there is a different, no wax!
  9. Do NOT be afraid to dab. It's a different experience for everyone but in my experience dabs is the way to go. One dab does what two or three joints can do!
  10. DO thank anyone who dabs you. Always be polite and keep regular smoking etiquette in mind.

Dabbing is an awesome experience and to keep your experience awesome here are some extra tips when dabbing with oil.

How to get dabs off fingers

If you're like me you can get a little bit frustrated when working with oil. It gets on your hands, it gets stuck to your tray. There is no real way of getting small amounts of oil off of your hands to collect to use, its just too sticky and too small of an amount but there are ways of removing it from your hands and skin.

Using a pumice such as Gojo orange pumice works great for removing dabs from fingers. You just rub it on your hands dry, it works away the oil then rinse in hot water. Works like a charm. Or you can use the old fashioned method of soap and hot water. Either way it's not the end of the world.

Use parchment paper not wax paper

Use parchment paper for dabbing, not wax paper. The wax can fuse with the oil, removing dabs from wax paper can be super hard and time consuming. The parchment paper collects the oil and lets you scrape it off without getting any wax.

  1. To clean your dab tools and get stuff of your fingers, use alcohol prep wipes. You can get a big box at your local pharmacy. I keep a few with my bowls and one with my dab stuff. Works great. Cheap
