Weed vs. Alcohol

dank weed, weed vs alcohol, marijuana legalization
Weed vs. Alcohol, the verdict is in. Weed is king when it comes to the benefits. Even the President of the United States, Barack Obama has been quoted as saying to the New Yorker, "I don't think it's more dangerous than alcohol." Dank weed has a long list of positive aspects whereas alcohol is riddled with negative connotations. Tons of data has been uncovered on the difference between the two, and with legalization of marijuana being on the rise more studies should reveal important information concerning the beneficial attributes of cannabis.

Obesity and Cannabis Use

Studies from the Oxford Journals, and American Journal of Epidemiology have suggested that despite the increase in appetite that cannabis causes, weed smokers are actually thinner than non smokers. That is not to say that there are no obese pot smokers, however the surveys do suggest that the rate is lower in dank users and that pot smokers have less health risks.

The Pros and Cons of Weed and Alcohol

So here is the big question, what exactly are the pros and cons of weed and alcohol? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to tell the difference in benefits. While alcohol may be a fun way to let loose, the actual reality is that alcohol is the most dangerous versus the two. Marijuana has no withdrawal side effects whereas alcohol has many side effects and can even be deadly if you have other medical problems. Some of alcohol withdrawal side effects include; anxiety, depression and fatigue. What are side effects of regular use of the two? Side effects of pot; the munchies, and a good night's rest, this is the exact opposite of alcohol's; hangovers and vomiting sessions. While pot might help one find the spiritual force within, alcohol brings the person to the altar of the porcelain god.

Here are some of the facts

According to a National Vital Statistics Report by the CDC, alcohol causes approximately 88,000 deaths a year, as of 2010. Weed on the other hand, has not had one single death contributed to its use.

The Huffington Post reports that overdose from marijuana is highly unlikely. The equivalent of overdosing on marijuana is red eyes. Weigh that against the staggering number of overdose deaths related to prescription drugs and alcohol abuse, and it's pretty obvious that marijuana is completely safe, and the best alternative to taking body and mind damaging pharmaceuticals.

cannabis, dank weed, marijuana benefitsMarijuana is a natural medicine that cancer.org says can help fight disease. Even though the American Cancer society states that more testing is needed to know the full range of medicinal value, it's my opinion that medical marijuana is in a league of its own, having more positive uses than any other natural substance known to man. Some of the health advantages of dank weed is the reduction of inflammation in the body and a reduction in pain. Hemp is one of the greatest producers of materials and of healthy alternatives to medicine such as Hemp Oil. Hemp oil has been USDA certified, is rich in omega 3 fatty acids, and has a great nutty flavor which compliments many foods.

You be the judge of which has more benefits and which is more dangerous. The only danger of weed is the fact that it is currently illegal in most of the United States, which is rapidly changing as marijuana legislation is being introduced and being considered federally after many years of unjust prohibition. To help you make your decision on which of the two is more beneficial, weed vs. alcohol, I've included a chart/infogram to guide you. Share it with family and friends and educate the nation on the dangers of alcohol vs the benefits of marijuana.
